Who We Are

The Office of Environmental Technical Assistance (OETA) was established in 2005 as a priority of the All Indian Pueblos Council (AIPC) in conjunction with the Mescalero and Jicarilla Apache Nations and the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo in Texas, to improve environmental program capacity and provide a regional resource for technical assistance.

OETA assists 22 pueblos and tribes in NM and Texas in promoting the enhancement of environmental resources, environmental health and in the protection of tribal lands from environmental hazards.

The expansion of outreach and development of technical support services is based upon needs identified by the 22 pueblos and tribes.

The Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Council (ENIPC) was selected by Pueblo and Tribal leadership as the sponsoring organization for the OETA office. The ENIPC has been in existence for over 40 years serving the eight northern pueblos.
